On Thursday evening I finished Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I’ve talked to a couple of people who hated it because, well, some of the characters just pissed them off, i.e. Umbridge. But I really enjoyed it. I loved all the back story, I loved how much I hated Umbridge and the ministry and I loved that I got a strong feeling of how much Harry cared for Sirus when at the end I actually got really teary…overall, I thought there was a good amount of time to really feel whatever the situation was hoping for me to feel.
I went to the theater and saw the movie last night. It was pretty good. The special effects were incredible. Only a couple of cheesy things I didn’t like.
- I hate movie shots where a scene ends with Harry, Hermione and Ron just laughing.
- The mistletoe suddenly appearing above Harry and Cho
- No quidditch whatsoever
- At the end when Harry is ‘fighting’ Voldemort he says, “I feel bad for you because you will never know love or friendship’
- It didn’t explain professor Trelawney and the prophecy at all
Overall, though. I was pleased. Luna Lovegood’s character was great. I loved her. The wings on the thestrals were perfect. I would have liked to see more of the final fight sequence; like the baby-headed death eater, Ron being surrounded by the brain and it’s memories, and Neville being kicked in the face but still managing to help.
Anyhow, I’ll start 6, but I’m so reluctant to finish because I enjoy seeing the movies immediately after I read the book, and I know the next movie probably won’t come out for a year. But I guess I’m more curious to find out what happens than I am to see the less-than- perfect movies.
