Goblet of Fire

Lifestyle · August 5, 2007

I finished Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire this weekend and watched the movie tonight. I’m afraid I’ve become a bit obsessed with these books. I think it’s ok. My sister, however, thinks I’m a huge nerd. Again, I think that’s ok.

I’m much happier about the 4th movie than I was with the 3rd (foreign directors, pffft). Although some things that I thought were important were left out, (like Sirius, which I might be wrong, I don’t know. Maybe he doesn’t even show back up in the next books) I’m still glad that at least everything, for the most part, went in the same order as the book. Again, 3 screwed even the sequence of events up. Gosh, I hated that one.

Two things I didn’t like about this movie are (1) how aggressive they made Dumbledore. I like how in the books he seems to be a very passive, always knows exactly what to say kind of guy and (2) that we didn’t meet the 2 other Weasly brothers.

Anyhow, there are a couple of things I’m looking forward to finding out.

  1. Someone sort of tipped me off to something this weekend when they asked, “Does Harry still live with the Dursley’s at the start of 4?” Implying that he doesn’t live with them later.
  2. This is totally girly, but obviously as the kids get older they are going to start liking members of the opposite sex. We’ve seen it so far with Harry and Cho and got a glimpse of it with Ron and Hermione. I really want Ron and Hermione to work out.
  3. Who will be the next Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher? It seems they are running out of options and now that Voldemort’s back, someone will really need to kick that class into shape.
  4. What (if anything…and why haven’t they done something before now?!?) will happen to the Malfoy family since we saw that Lucious has gone back to the dark side?

Yep, I’m a nerd. This has basically taken over any of my spare time. But, I may have created 2 new fans of HP this weekend. I was, of course, talking about Harry Potter and one girl said, “I’ve been wanting to start reading a series again, maybe I’ll start on those.” And the girl beside her agreed and said she might do the same. Yeah, I guess all my animated conversations about it got them pretty psyched. (refer to sentence 1 of the last paragraph)
