Dear Boys –
You will hate this post. It’s for the ladies.
Love,
Me

Fall is almost here. It is my most favorite time of the year. This year, there are some definite style trends I will be checking out. Most of the time when some trend is HUGE with the ladies, the men hate it. Here are a few on my list.
.
First, menswear inspired shoes and outfits. These have cropped up everywhere. I love that they are so masculine, but also that they have very girly things about them like tall heels and sometimes bows or ribbons. Plus, you can sometimes get a men’s cut in the shirts in pants them slimmer and/or more form fitting.

Next, is big cuff bracelets. Whether with jeans and a dressy shirt or like these ladies with a glamorous gown, cuffs are back and this year they are big. Also with jewelry this season…remember the old rule when you’re about to walk out of the house take one piece of jewelry off, then you’re ready? Not this year! Pile them on. The more and the bigger, the better. The conventional rule of dainty has been thrown out the window.

Belted waists are back. Actually, the hourglass silhouette is back and this is a way to show it off.
While last year’s belted waists were cinched with very wide and gaudy belts, this year they range from very skinny to still very wide. Even over sweaters and dresses, a belt around the waist gives the illusion of the perfect hourglass figure, even if you don’t have one.

Capes. I know, I know! The men are asking if we’re Superman or going to perform at a child’s birthday party. But capes are cute.
Some capes have large, flowing arms instead of simply being a covering. More like a coat. Capes are great for the Fall when it’s not too cold, but windy or chilly enough to need to be covered. Throw on a hat and black tights and you’re set. Speaking of…

I am LOVING tights (or stockings).
I went to New York last month an bought outfits specifically for my tights. But it’s not just black or brown anymore. Now all colors of tights are in. Plus, they come in patterns and can be worn with nearly everything from under dresses to shorts. Furthermore, the shoes in the aforementioned with tights is huge right now.

Chunky knits. Ohhhh, just imagine your favorite knitted sweater in the fall while your walking to your car. I love this trend for the mere nostalgia of it. Knitted sweaters from our childhood made into sophisticated and incredibly comfortable piece that can be paired with nearly anything. If there is one thing I have NEVER been able to walk away from in the store, it’s a great cardigan. Now the weaves in them are bigger and fluffier. I won’t be able to resist.

The equestrian boot is still hot this fall. But I think this year it should be emphasized more. Bright colors (specifically purple and red) are a big trend for this fall. Pairing them with a solid boot and more chunky jewelry would be perfect.

The rasta inspired hat. Not so much a trend right now, just a piece I’d like to purchase. It’s easy and fun and really cute.
No worries, males. I’m sure the next post will have something to do with sports or red meat or trucks or something else hyper-masculine.
