Gas is high right now, duh.
So, in fear of having to really buckle down in order to just drive to work everyday, I started doing a little research and came to the conclusion that I should keep my old car for just a few more years and wait for these…
(1) Chrysler’s gas price cap program is the start of incentive program wars! Putting a $2.99/gallon cap on gas is just the start for car manufactures. Next thing ya know, GM is going to make it something like $2.75/gallon or even crazier, $2.50/gallon!
(2) VW’s new 235 MPG concept car (to be released in 2010). It’s a two seater and they’re not side-by-side, but 235 MPG! That’d be worth it. Plus, if Volkswagen has the technology ready to release in 2010, that means other’s do as well.
(3) The Chevy Volt, also to be released around 2010. This car can drive 40 miles on its battery without using a single drop of gasoline. Which means if you drive less than 40 miles back and forth to work every day, you wouldn’t use any gas. It holds 12 gallons in case you do go over the 40 miles the battery is equipped to handle and the electric motor/battery can be charged using any standard home outlet. Using the gas and electric motor the car will get over 100 MPG. Plus, this one comes as a 4-seater.
So, while gas prices are draining our pockets now, there is a light at the end of this narrow tunnel. Now we just have to hope we have enough to make it there.
One of the websites I’ve started reading on a regular basis “Lazy man and money” just posted about the gas cap thing…he wasn’t as excited about it, link at the end of the comment. Personally, if you are looking for a new car, why not get as many perks as possible.
