Mom went home today! She is doing great. She’ll be spending the rest of her recovery time in Hot Springs at the condo on Lake Hamilton. Her follow up appointment is on April 24 at 9:15 a.m.

The biopsy came back yesterday which told us the polyp was, in fact, cancer. But, just as the doctor thought, it was stage 1. In the upcoming weeks after recovery, mom will talk to an oncologist about any treatment she might need. Her doctor is thinking since she is young, they might want to do something just so it 100% won’t come back in a few years.

I cannot thank those enough who have been so supportive and praying for my mom as she goes through this difficult time. The surgery yesterday went SO much better than we could have hoped. There were no more polyps in any other areas of the colon and the surrounding organs looked fine. The surgeon was very positive and said it looked to be stage 1 or even less. We’re waiting on the lab results from the polyp that was removed yesterday to be 100%, but the doctor was pretty sure.
Thank you again. I’ll try to keep this as up-to-date on any news that I can. FYI, Saline Memorial Hospital has been FANTASTIC. We could not have asked for a better staff or facility. However, there is no Internet access in any of the patient rooms or waiting areas.
